Go Ahead and…Rest

Go Ahead and…Rest

Jesus said, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest….”  Meditating over this week’s blog topic, Matthew 11:28 came to mind.  Reading Facebook posts about people taking their last exams and turning in their final papers for the academic year, I thought the topic was very appropriate.  The finale of certain events in life, such as the academic year, that long work week, or even any positive change that gives us a break from a continuity, really allows us to enjoy what life feels like on the other side.  The calm, peaceful and perhaps non-apprehensive side.  The side called, “rest.”  How wonderful.   Daily, monthly, and yearly schedules can be excruciatingly tiresome without any sort of breaks.  Even if we...

A 360 Love Story: The Twin’s Perspective

For those of you who don’t know this, I am an identical twin to Paul Limones.  On top of that, we’re the kind of twins that are best friends with each other.  Womb mates and roommates.  Brothers that are friends and friends that are brothers.  Growing up, we’d buy the same stuff, go to the same dentist appointments, get invited to the same birthday parties.  You name it, we did everything together.  We were inseparable.   We found comfort in each other’s friendship and enjoyed helping each other out in anything—whether it be in school or even in things as simple as trading off tasks (e.g., the cooking and the cleaning during our days living abroad).  We had an entire system worked out where we’d both fill in the gaps for each other.  ...

Fruitful Patience

Patience, patience, patience.  Especially with people.  Why?  Because we should show compassion toward them, even if they’re rude.  Last week, God allowed for me to experience a tough situation at my job, where I was able to practice my patience.   The lady I work for was in the worst mood, as she unexpectedly turned into the wicked witch of the west.  Really.  I never knew it was possible for people to have split personalities like that.  It was scary.  I held on…with patience.  The situation was so severe, I felt victimized, but I still held on.  However, right before things could get any worse, things got better.   Right at the last hour of the last day of my workweek; it was as if my patience had overcome the wrath of this person.  She...

Sunday Awaits

It felt so good walking out to my car this past week from being inside for what constitutes most of the day.  Usually, I can’t help but take deep breaths of the fresh air as I leave the indoors from work and walk to my car in an open parking area.  This seems to cause an endorphin release, as I feel completely reenergized after a long day of work.  It’s almost as if I wouldn’t know I need the fresh air, unless I experience it… kind of like the feeling you get when you don’t know what else to have for dinner until you figure out, all you needed to do was drink a glass of water, quenching both your hunger and thirst simultaneously in just a few large gulps of water.   It seems like Californians react the same way when it starts raining.  All...

The Designer’s Collection

“When I think of Spring/Summer 2012, I think of bright colors and lots, and lots, and lots, and lots of prints!  Prints have become an amazing trend that will not go away.   Why go to an event in a black evening gown?  Why not go to an event in a beautiful printed evening gown?” were the wise words of corporate designer merchandiser, Jeffrey Kalinsky, at the spring product meeting I attended at work this past week.  “Don’t be afraid to mix and match!  Floral prints, pastel plaids, and polka dots combined make the difference between an outfit that might look ordinary, and something that will pop!”   As he continued to deliver his convincing speech on the sales associates to be fearlessly selling bold, bright and mixed patterns, I was reminded...

Life-Changing Fragrance

We’ve no place to go except good places!!  If we’ve decided to lay our fears, dreams, burdens, and victories at His feet, our lives are to be a pure result of His plan for each and every one of us.  Because we’ve been called to serve God with our speech, thoughts and actions, we can be sure that if we follow His commands our perspective on where we should go and what we should do should lie solely on our love for him.    This means that when we’re about to commit to whatever the Lord has planned for us, He will be honored when we ask Him for direction without putting our feelings first.   The places we go everyday affect us physically.  We make some choices that affect us emotionally, and we make other choices that affect us spiritually.  ...
